Bareboat Sailing: The British Virgin Islands
A Caribbean sailing vacation! Be inspired-If you are adventurous and have some experience sailing, spend a week on a sailboat or a catamaran in the Caribbean (or anywhere else for that matter, like Greece, Croatia, Turkey, or Nantucket) sailing with a group of your closest friends on a bareboat in the Caribbean's British Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands are made up of more than 60 islands and islets at the northern end of the Lesser Antilles, which separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean. Crystal clear waters, pristine, beaches, scenic safe anchorages, steady winds, and fully equipped marinas make the British Virgin Islands a perfect Caribbean sailing destination.
It is an unbelievable experience, living on the bareboat for week, and sailing anywhere you want each day. If you are not comfortable sailing the boat yourself or want to shed all your responsibilities (!), each charter can be customized with a skipper, or a cook, or you can have your bareboat provisioned for the entire week with food and drinks, leaving you free to enjoy snorkeling, diving, visiting ports of call, or just relaxing on the deck or on a newly discovered secret beach. Anchor at different ports, and enjoy a day spa, or shopping, or partying at the best of the Caribbean sailing destinations. Visit Peter Island, Jost Van Dyke and its famous Soggy Dollar Bar, Marina Cay, Anegada (the northernmost BVI island/fab beaches), Virgin Gorda, and the Norman Islands. What could be better than fabulous beaches, state of the art yachts, and incredible islands? Look for a bareboat with at least three staterooms, hot water showers, refrigeration, safety navigational equipment, fully equipped galley and a dinghy to get to shore when you want to hit dry land. You can even include wind surfers, kayaks, or stand-up paddle boards on your bareboat charter.
You can also take a break from Caribbean sailing, and check-in at the classic old school Peter Island Resort and Spa in the British Virgin Islands. Sail, Swim, Fish, Scuba, Yoga, Spa, Bike, Hike. Not fancy, but really high end, nice and simple. Easy to get to from St. Thomas, there are 5 beautiful beaches to choose from each day. So, five days, one beach per day! Or, if you just won the lottery, you can rent the entire island for 130 of your closest friends. Off the Beaten Path Suggestion-This resort will even institute a no fly zone over the island for extra peace and quiet.
